报告题目👨🏽💼:An Optimization Framework of The Box Sizing Problem for Supply Chain Reengineering
报告摘要:
Long term changes in supply chain strategy will cause optimization problems in short term operations, of which the solution quality is the crucial element of the strategy changes which result in success or failure. We consider the Box Sizing Problem(BSP) which is such a new and complex optimization problem requested by supply chain reengineering. To shift the assorting and repacking process from the retailer side to the supplier side, a redesign in size is needed for two layers of boxes. We studies how to determine the box sizes to maximize the total volume utilization of containers for shipping the ordered demand of products. We decompose this problem into several subproblems to reduce complexity and use a Cut/Pack/Select(CPS) framework and an IP model to solve the original problem making use of the existing heuristic algorithm of another optimization problem, the Container Loading Problem, which is well-studied. Physical and managerial issues are considered and included in the problem modeling. We also prove that the box sizes can be determined before the demand of products is fixed. Numerical results and analysis show that our framework can efficiently generate solutions with good quality.
