报告题目🚣：Six Sigma: Its Potential, Limitations, and Implementation

报告摘要：Six Sigma as a quality improvement framework is not new by now.  This is a framework that was not initiated or led by academics or theorists - a rare background - yet has managed to remain popular in industrial and service organizations for more than two decades.  Precisely because Six Sigma is not rooted in academic institutions, there have been misplaced expectations and misunderstanding as to what Six Sigma is capable of achieving for an organization.  Actually, a realistic view of Six Sigma based on Six Sigma’s basic premises and tools would better bring out the effectiveness of Six Sigma applications as well as facilitate its acceptance during implementation.  Contrary to the belief that Six Sigma is a universal approach to excellence, we will highlight factors that make Six Sigma attractive and successful, and point out situations where Six Sigma actually would hardly be useful.  Related concepts such Quality certification, Design for Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma will also be discussed.  Contents of this seminar are non-technical in nature, although some background knowledge of quality management and applied statistics would add to the appreciation of the arguments of the presentation.
