报告题目：An Integrated Approach to Monitoring Supply Network Dynamics Using Kalman Filtering and Control Chart

报告摘要：

In today’s global market, one critical issue for companies to survive the increasing competition is how to manage the perturbation in supply networks which can quickly propagate and intensity in impact with damaging consequences. Literature indicates that most existing decision tools and models have focused on the decision strategies on how to mitigate the negative consequences from actual and potential perturbations. Comparing to these “post” activities, we envision proactively sensing the states of the supply network operation will allow the managers to better understand the network dynamics as well as the generation and propagation of the perturbation, and thus make necessary responses in a timely manner. The challenges though lie in the large volume of the data which tends to have noise. Recent advances in communication technologies generate huge amount of data which can impede effectively detecting the states of the network, particularly since some data may be incomplete or have errors. Inaccurate estimates of the state of the supply network can lead to incorrect decision with consequent adverse effects on product availability, lead times and even inventory levels. In this paper, we explore the application of Kalman Filtering to monitor the dynamic states of the supply network. Kalman Filter is further integrated with a control chart to enhance the sensitivity of the detection. An industry supply network case is presented to illustrate how the integrated approach can be used to improve the monitoring the supply network dynamics.

报告人简历：

Teresa Wu is an Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering Department at Arizona State University. She received her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa in 2001. Her current research interests include: distributed decision support, distributed information system, supply chain modeling and disruption management. Professor Wu has over 30 articles published (or accepted) in such journals as International Journal of Production Research, Omega, Data and Knowledge Engineering and ASME: Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. She serves on the Editorial Review Board for International Journal of Production Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Computer and Standard Interface, International Journal of Electronic Business Management.
