【Title】 Stochastic network design
【Speaker】 Prof. Stein Wallace, Dept. of Management Science, Lancaster University Management School
【Host】Dr. Lei Zhao
【Abstract】In this tale (also a lecture in the graduate course"Distribution system modeling and analysis"), prof. Wallace will use network design examples to show us what stochastics does to structured integer programs, with a goal towards solving real problems.
【About the speaker】Prof. Wallace's research interests: Decision-making under uncertainty, with an emphasis on stochastic programming, as well as stochastic network design, the art of modelling, multi-item newsvendor models with dependencies. Prof. Wallace has published three books(among them the world's first textbook in stochastic programming) and more than 50 articles in scientific journals. He is associate editor of INFORMS J. on Computing, optimization and Engineering and the stochastic programming e-print series. He has chaired the Committee on Stochastic Programming, and held elected and appointed positions in INFORMS and The Mathematical programming Society. He has held visiting positions in the USA, Sweden, Switzerlan, France, Iceland and Hong Kong.
Looking forward to your participation.
